Dragoon Trail
The Dragoon Trail will guide the traveler along the most scenic route through the Greenbelt from Fort Dodge and Webster City on the North to just below Lake Red Rock on the South. Look for and follow the distinctive Dragoon Trail signs.

Ericson Public Library

This library was built in 1901 and is named for Senator C.J.A. Ericson. The library was placed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It houses a collection of 87,000 items, including local history and genealogy materials. 702 Greene St. 515-432-3727

Honey Creek is open to the public and offers bent grass trees, greens and fairways along with five sets of trees to challenge golfers of all skill levels. Kate Shelley Railroad Museum

This restored depot is where visitors can learn the dramatic story of 15 year-old Kate Shelley's warning of oncoming danger to a passenger train. Working telegraph, railroad memorabilia, artifacts relating to Kate Shelley's life. Hours: Museum is open by appointment. The grounds are open daily throughout the year. Ledges State Park is one of Iowa's oldest parks. Dedicated in 1924, the park is best known for the sandstone bluffs that run from the upper portion down to the Des Moines River Valley. It has more than 1,200 acres of camping, picnicking and hiking. 515-432-1852

Madrid Historical Society Museum
The Kate Shelley High Bridge is the longest, highest, double-track railroad bridge in the United States. It stands 185 feet above the Des Moines River at a length of 2,685 feet. It was renamed in 1982 to honor Kate Shelley.
The Fairgrounds is home to one of  Iowa's best county fairs featuring top-flight country music and other entertainment. The newly remodeled community building provides a home for social, commercial and civic activities. 515-432-5899

Hickory Grove School
The authentic one-room school house recently moved to a new site between Boone and Ogden, where it is currently undergoing repairs and restoration. Typical of the classic one-room school that was once a common sight in rural Iowa and served the state's farm children, it is furnished with desks, books, maps and other school items typical of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
